What a beautiful tribute - and what a special teacher. I also had some wonderful dance teachers throughout my life - in Salt Lake City Virginia Tanner started The Children's Dance Theater - when I was older I used to accompany dance classes there, (as did, on occasion, Bobby McFerrin!).
What was so special is the way she democratized dance. It was something for everyone - not just those with the right ballet body or the ambition and talent to become ballerinas. Dance is for everybody - and I love that Cheryl Cutler tapped into that passion of yours! xoxo Monica
What a meaningful impact a dance teacher spreading the joy of movement for everyone can make in peoples lives. It has been my profound pleasure and joy to attempt to do just that these last 25 years of teaching. Love hearing this story. Thank you for sharing.
I was just googling to find out about Chery and found your post - my heart is broken but I cannot be anything but grateful to have known her, because she also changed my life. "Do everything out of love, not out of fear" was one of the pieces of wisdom that she shared that I have repeated to myself pretty much daily since taking her class and her workshops, too.

Thank you, Monica! 😘
I shared your post in a private FB group of Wesleyan Alum, some who knew her in the 1970s and early 80s. I am sure they will love it. Continue in joy!

So sorry for your loss and the loss to the world of someone with so much zest for life. Rest in Peace, Cheryl.
Beautiful, Laura…!
